SANDY KAY

Ceramics

Berkeley Springs, WV

Jewelry and decorator items created from ceramic slabs are the core of Kay’s work. The gleaming porcelain pieces are richly glazed and lustered with 24K gold, platinum, copper, and mother-of-pearl. Her inventory ranges from earrings, pins, and neckpieces that look like they belong on an Egyptian queen to picture frames, bowls, and sculptured and mirrored wall hangings, available in all colors and sizes. Although abstract designs have been Kay’s primary motif, her most recent work draws heavily on the human form.

Kay’s work is available at numerous regional and national galleries and craft shows, as well as by commission.

Educated as a teacher, Kay has worked in clay since l977. She came to Berkeley Springs from the Washington, DC area in 1982 and currently lives near town with her partner and two children.
